Super Mario Odyssey™ review
Super Mario Odyssey developed and published by Nintendo in October 2017 was famous even before its release. Long before the sale, this 3D platform video game for Nintendo managed to collect hundreds of prestigious awards at several exhibitions. What were the reasons for such popularity? We'll try to find an answer in our review.
Graphics — 5/5
Visually, the game looks great. It's still hard to believe that a tiny Nintendo Switch can produce such a cool picture. High-resolution textures, a vast number of impressive special effects, great animation of characters and environments, and a plethora of small details on the screen. All this leads a franchise of Mario games to a new quality level. This is not only the merit of graphics engineers of Nintendo but also of artists who have created a real world, which atmosphere is imbued with a vivid picture.
Gameplay — 5/5
Super Mario Odyssey is performed in a sandbox genre. The plot is tied to a classic tale usual for the majority of Mario video games. After the evil Bowser kidnaps Princess Peach having an intention to marry her, Mario tries to rescue his beloved one. In the heat of this battle, Mario even loses his legendary red cap.
So you will need to return the Princess and Mario's favorite cap. The exciting adventure on a hat-shaped spaceship Odyssey is meant to bring you a lot of fun.
The worlds you are going to explore with Mario are known as kingdoms. They are designed to be either fantastical or strikingly realistic. This will give him access to Power Moons, items that unlock more worlds for him to venture out into.
Controls — 4.5/5
The controls in Super Mario Odyssey are exclusive to the Nintendo Switch motion controller. So Nintendo adherents, you have all the controlling power in your hands with your modern controller. Super Mario Odyssey is not that you can not go through using only one method of control ... you wouldn't want to do it.
Replay Value — 5/5
Super Mario Odyssey received so many positive reactions that we can claim it has undoubtedly high replay value. You will discover numerous Power Moons hidden everywhere in these fictional kingdoms. You will explore different worlds with Mario and take part in full actions so that you will never get bored. Surely, you would like to come back for more.
Super Mario Odyssey is the best thing that has happened to Mario franchise in recent years, and perhaps throughout the history of it. The game is so gorgeous in its diversity, originality, charm and visual spontaneity that it grabs your attention and doesn't let the players go.
The Bottom Line
Super Mario Odyssey is a decent title in the Mario franchise. It worths your attention.
- An outstanding gameplay
- Memorable soundtrack
- Unlimited number of Power Moons
- Nintendo developed the game comfortable to play with the motion controller, so that for users with standard controllers it may seem inconvenient
